Networking Air Quality Observations and Models: From Virtual to Real
The data for air quality Decision Support Systems and Science Teams is typically delivered through dedicated closed ("stovepipe") data systems or manually dowloaded from Data Portals. In spite of many years of genuine effort by Facilitators and interoperability experts, the seamless flow of data and the building of agile data processing applications is still hampered by technological and organizational impediments. A community-based network is now emerging that connects several existing AQ data hubs through service oriented architecture. To further the development of the air quality data network, a workshop is organized on the island Solta in Croatia, where the practitioners will assess the current state of the network; share best practices and seek to transform the network from virtual to real.
