Talk:Statistics on Interoperability Papers at Fall AGU Meetings
|
Rhusar:Hello from the discussion moderator
This is the discussion or 'Talk' page is on the topic of the main page: Statistics on Interoperability...Request for participation will be sent by email to the senior authors of 'Interoperability Papers' at the Fall 2006 AGU meeting and other interested parties. Preparing the initial draft of the Interoperability Statistics page was an illuminating exercise. I would hope that this wiki-based forum may help us complementing and harmonizing our respective views on Interoperability. The result could be a useful communal assessment of the state of Interoperability... Rhusar 00:54, 9 November 2006 (EST)

Rhusar:On Interoperability
In 2006, interoperability mainly refers to the application of OGC Standard Protocols. Rhusar 12:28, 18 November 2006 (EST)
>>Nativi:Re:On Interoperability
- In my opinion, interoperability is mainly pursued as "services interoperability", using the Web as distributed computing platform; thus, OGC Web Services (OWS) are very popular. On the other hand, SOA requires to harmonize payload data models, as well as protocols; a simple way to pursue data model harmonization in a Web environment is to implement semi-sructured models encoding them in a self-contained and self-explanatory way. This is a motivation for the definite increment of Markup Languages to describe geosciences datasets. Stefano Nativi (Nativi) 12:22, 14 November 2006 (EST)
Rhusar: OGC Data Access Standards Dominate
The OGC data access services, WMS and WCS are by far the most dominant.Rhusar 12:30, 18 November 2006 (EST)
