The GEO Air Quality Community of Practice (me and Martin Schultz) is organizing the AQ Networking Workshop in Croatia. http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Air_Quality_Data_Network_Solta_2011. This will be a US-EU air quality data system crowd (20-30?) that has shown signs of readiness for AQ data networking.
A bunch of us have been co-developing a WCS server for gridded (model, satellite, emission) and point-station data with special consideration to AQ applications. CF-netCDF plays a pivotal role in the server design as well as in WCS payload.
Anyway, if we make it through this workshop as intended, there will be a dozen or so data servers, connecting the key AQ data hubs though WCS - netCDF.
