Disaster Cluster meeting | Thur Nov 5th.

Attending: Karen Moe, Ken Keiser, Maggi Glasscoe, Lindsey Harriman, Sean Barberie, Holly Schueler, Chandra Bales, Bob Chen, Michael McEniry (UAH), Dave Jones, Kevin Ward, Rafael Ameller, Sara Graves.

Test-Bed status and demo

  • Holly will show both JPL and UAH instances of the test-bed.

  • Live demo showing Nepal earthquake data
  • Very actionable tool for data visualization and response.
  • Create collaborative drawings on the fly.
  • Real-time updated data alerts in your browser.

  • participants are broken up into Leaders and Followers. The Leader directs the data display and the conversation.
  • Share data layers. Followers can click on data points for information.
  • Still testing new data formats.
  • Interested in user feedback on data types that need to be supported.
  • Feature idea: draw polygon and request a population count. (possibly a good capability to add to the testbed, potentially as a pilot).
  • Can do transparency if showing multiple layers.

Winter ESIP Meeting

  • Karen will submit a session for the Disaster Cluster to demo the testbed.
  • Community update on testbed.
  • Opportunity: All Hazards Consortium and hurricane Sandy, works with power companies and restoring power after disasters. Possible testbed proposal.
  • Invite All Hazards Consortium to our session at the winter meeting.

ESIP Trusted Datasets

  • Need to get more of a dialog going on the next steps of establishing an ESIP Trusted qualifier.
  • Can we see what FEMA currently uses to determine whether they trust a dataset?
  • Hsip database -- homeland security information partnership. Data source for useful disaster data and critical infrastructure.
  • Contact Dave for collaboration on proposal
