'''Discussion of ESIP Water Cluster Use Case Development'''

'''Status AIP 3 Process'''
Will discussed the importance of the Chesapeake to the use case. The use case is interesting enough that anyone’s system could be added as a line item very easily. He mentioned that the use case would essentially be an excel spreadsheet. The idea being to expose how much metadata is collected and to compare it to some of the standards for non-continuous data.  The idea is to talk about the demands of interoperability.  They will be collecting and preserving data that is amenable to comparability.  U Md is on board so it gives us several types of buoys.
+
The group completed a general review of the status of the GEOSS AIP-3 call.  Bill went over the responses that have come in up to this point at the website http://www.ogcnetwork.net/node/635
 +
There was discussion about what area of interest might be appropriate for ESIP Water Cluster group member submission.  The Gulf of Maine was identified by EPA as an area of current interest.

Will discussed other buoys and feels the next steps is to get a standard descriptin email of what it consists of and that the people who think they can participate will participate.
+
It was alos noted that there is international interest from Europe and the Ecoinformatics group may submit something as a joint venture.

Stephanie mentioned that the last telecon her writing up a narrative for the San Joaquin valleyWhat would it take for that to happen.
+
Will Pozzi gave an overview of what is expected for responsesThere is no need to put anything out quickly.  They will be accepting responses throughout the whole year.
This would be at a higher level.  The problem statement has been developed.
+
Will explained why the Chesapeake shouldn’t be considered as a use case.

Will suggested that Stephanie write it up in a template. He would send the template.
+
'''Semantic data architecture - use case template'''

Both of these qualifiers are good for use case based on GEOSS.

George Percival is preparing a section dealing with semantics. Ontologies are also coming up with the geophysical parameters.
+
There is a use case template that is already available on the ESIP wiki. Bill asked for a small group that could fill out a couple of use cases on the template.  This would entail a weekly telecon that would complete the process and then report out to the larger cluster group.
 +
Bill will spend some more time on the template to determine a course of action.

'''Development of Topics for ESIP Summer meeting'''

'''GEOSS AIP-3 Process Status discussions'''

It is hoped that the same thing that happened with AQ can happen with water.  There are a number of scenarios for biodiversity, water, AQ, energy as well as others.  Once the template is submitted, the kickoff meeting will be held in Italy.

AIP 3 is set up to provide demonstration products for the meeting to be held in late November or early December.

Carol asked if the water community of practice has submitted anything.    They are going to pick ten projects that will be featured at the ministerial summit in Beijing.

There may be an opportunity to have a broader impact.

There should be no problem getting an ESIP project in an IWGO presentation .
+
The summer meeting is July 20-23 in Knoxville, TN.  The group needs to think about what we want to do during the meeting.
 +
Carol gave the group an overview of how the meeting would work.  It is important that the group determine what it will need for space requirements, etc.
 +
The template is posted and it can be filled in as ideas area created.
 +
This should be an opportunity for EPA to highlight some areas.
 +
The assembly of data within the community is difficult. Is a community of practice the idea location to bring these questions?

There is going to be a tight timeline in getting a submission in order for the IWGO meeting.
+
There are a number of individuals that would be able to contribute to the discussion. The group will work on topic development
CUASHI is interested and it would be worth getting them involved.  It would be a benefit to get all of these groups together to brainstorm.

All three groups will need to come together in a telecon to see if they all have something to put on the table for either the Chesapeake case or the California case.

Chuck and Will will discuss this at a meeting on Monday

Semantic data architecture - use case template

There is a use case template that is already available on the ESIP wiki. Bill asked for a small group that could fill out a couple of use cases on the template. Development of Topics for ESIP Summer meeting

The summer meeting is July 20-23 in Knoxville, TN. The group needs to think about what we want to do during the meeting. Carol gave the group an overview of how the meeting would work.
