Chris Battisto Candidate Statement

From Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP)

Candidate for Information Technology and Interoperability Committee Chair

Chris Battisto

I'm an Earth scientist working at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center with a strong background in data management and information services. As a member of the User Needs team at the Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC), I help contribute to advancing open science initiatives. I hope my commitment to creating user resources, collaborating with other NASA data centers, and fostering science creation for all makes me a good candidate.

I am excited to run for the ESIP IT&I Committee because I believe in connecting Earth science data tools to drive innovation. My experience at GES DISC has taught me the value of collaboration, cross-DAAC educational materials, and public engagement. If elected, I will champion open science, enhance data accessibility, and foster a diverse and inclusive community of IT professionals. I'd love to get a chance to help build a future where Earth science data is accessible, reproducible, and empowering for all.
