Thomas Huang
Project Technologist
NASA Physical Oceanographic Distributed Active Archive Center, JPL, Caltech, CA.

I, Thomas Huang, am honored to accept the nomination as chair of the ESIP Information Technology & Interoperability Committee. ESIP has created the perfect platform for Earth science information experts like myself to share ideas and best practices in an effort to improve the communication between science data systems and organizations. I believe this is the essence of the Interoperability in IT&I.

As an IT professional, I have the privilege as the data system architect for various planetary and Earth science data systems. I am always on a lookout for better ways to deliver solutions to further science. In July 2011, I helped establish the ESIP Cloud Computing Cluster with the goal to improve our understanding of cloud computing and to evaluate its applicability in the Earth science data domain. It is truly an exciting time for us ESIP members. We have the technologies and the knowhow to actually improve the way we do science and have the ability to answer questions that we couldn’t answer before. I look forward to continue to serve this great organization. Thank you for your support of my nomination to become part of the ESIP leadership.
