Plenary Talk Ideas

Discussion and notes

Visioneers Meeting 10/20/15

Participants: Annie B., Annie K., Denise H., Bruce C., and Jamie R.

Annie Keyes discussed Summer Meeting locations

  • Narrowed down to Durham, NH, Chapel Hill, NC, Asheville, NC, and Gainsville, FL
  • Gainsville does not have wifi capacity
  • Should hear from Asheville, NC this week
  • Call participants ranked Durham and Asheville as top choices
  • Did not like the distance of the Chapel Hill location to an urban center

Annie Keyes discussed SWAG

  • SWAG: (bags, moleskine notebooks, pens)

Winter Meeting Theme Discussion

  • Frontiers in Earth Sciences Big Data
  • No sub-theme for winter
  • Like the idea of "Earth Sciences: The Original Big Data" on stickers

Push for more sessions at Winter Meeting

  • Suggest that Annie B. ping group leaders to discuss session in their monthly telecons
  • Consensus that everyone always submits last minute

Sponsorship Document

  • Suggestion that there should be a higher-level than 20K
  • Are we really limiting to "two only?"
