Satellite Observations in Science Education (SOSE) is an Internet-based education environment that provides interactive learning activities teaching remote sensing principles and exploratory data analysis. A toolkit of Reusable Content Objects (RCOs) allows scientists and educators from many disciplines to easily assemble learning modules accessible from any Java-enabled web browser.

This workshop will give an overview of the project - history, goals, and examples of how the toolkit is used to build online learning activities. This will be followed by an optional hands-on portion (you are welcome to participate, or just sit and watch) where we will go through the steps to build a simple activity using the SOSE toolkit. All you need to participate in the hands-on part is your laptop and very modest (low bandwidth) Internet connectivity.

This workshop is targeted primarily toward educators looking to utilize Earth Science data for e-learning, but all are welcome.

Presenter: Tommy Jasmin, University of Wisconsin Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC)
