An air quality(AQ) short course is offered by India Air Quality Resource Groupwith the support of McDonnell Academy Global Energy and Environment Partnership, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and GEO Air Quality Community of Practice. The course is intended for the convergence of air quality researchers, regulators,Industry personnel, members of academia and students for more effective mitigation of air pollution. A specific goal of this course is capacity building for assessing the nature and sources of air pollution with focus on particulate matter in India. Attendees will be provided with practical, "take home" air quality data resources and analyses tools that are accessible through the Global Observing System of Systems (GEOSS) data sharing arrangements.

First day is devoted to technical topics, including: Information needs for air quality (AQ) management, AQ data sources, analyses tools and methods; Spatial and temporal patterns; Integration of multi-sensory data modes; AQ management-oriented analyses for India. On the second day, broader aspects of air quality will be covered: Educational modules, special research areas, and international activities. A high level panel discussion of practitioners will be a forum to highlight the needs of air quality management. In response to these needs, action items will include charting a three-year calendar for collaborative education and research. Various experts from USA, Turkey and China will be sharing their experience with the Indian participants during this short course.
