Energy Cluster Plans for July 2010 ESIP Meeting

Motivation and Goals

Understanding Climate change impact on Energy demand and supply, and decision support for planning adaptation and mitigation strategies is one of the highest priorities from national security as well as from national and local government agency’s perspective. In this context, energy includes both conventional and renewable energy sources, with an initial focus on electric power. It has significant implications both from domestic and international point of view.

Given these considerations, we are proposing to launch an energy sector within the ESIP at the upcoming Summer 2010 meeting. The objective of this new Energy Sector is to provide a forum for impacted organizations to provide end user needs, government organizations to discuss policy constraints and requirements, and data and decision support solution providers to make the needed tools available to serve those needs.
