::The Next Generation Science Standards have recently been released by Achieve, Inc.  These standards are a major step forward for Earth and space science education nationally, significantly increasing the prominence of our discipline in the K-12 setting.  Furthermore, the standards identify specific performance expectations of students in key subject areas relevant to ESIP, as well as in demonstrating scientific process and engineering practice skills.  Given the technical expertise of the ESIP community, the standards provide an opportunity for the ESIP community to engage in a new way in support of K-12 STEM education - providing access to data and analysis tools adapted for the middle and high school levels.  This session will share information about the standards, and highlight ways in which the ESIP community can become engaged, leveraging existing programs and resources in new ways to support this exciting new national initiative.

2. NSTA Recap

Roberta Johnson provided a recap of NSTA. NESTA had 16 events, with 1100 people passing through their events throughout the meeting. Share-a-thon had approximately 400 people, with another 100 presenters. Overall NSTA attendance was down but NESTA had good turn-out at its events. At Albany, about 77 people came out for an Earth Day event.

3. GLOBE Program Solicitation

Margaret Mooney noted that all NASA ROSES E/PO has been put on hold until further notice. The NASA website has not been updated to reflect this but Margaret Mooney has an email from the program manager indicating that it is on hold. There is interest in submitting a NOI placeholder, despite the program being on hold.
