Motivation

At the ESIP Winter 2010 meeting, the TIWG discussed methods for assessing the impact of technical workshops and demonstrations on the community. This will improve the effectiveness of technology infusion into Earth science data systems.

Approach

Collect metrics during workshop sessions by quick and simple polling of audience.

Beginning of session

  1. Number of attendance:
  2. Reason for attending:
  * Just curious
  * Want to learn more about the technology
  * Actively thinking of using the technology
  * Already using technology

End of session

  1. Anyone planning to follow up with Point of Contact for technology?
  2. Reaction after session:
  * Still no interest
  * Still want to learn more about the technology
  * More actively thinking of using the technology
  * Continued usage of technology
  * Planning to stop using technology.
