February 12 – 13, 2008

Draft Agenda (013008)

Day 1
(Guidance on the scope and depth of overview talks for this session is needed) see Agenda Design
8:00am Welcome - Wayland
8:10am Introduction of Participants - All
8:20am Goals and organization - Scheffe

  1. Review summit purpose and objectives
  2. Review summit goals. By the end of the summit participants will have:
    1. Learned about the universe of air quality (AQ) data systems and data processing centers.
    2. Worked in small groups to articulate and document the key non-technical challenges and aspirations in using AQ data for public health & ecological assessments; AQ forecasting and reanalysis for assessment; model/emissions evaluation; and AQ characterization for trends and accountability.
    3. Used the known key non-technical challenges and aspirations to identify broad attributes and functions of the desired system.
    4. Worked to identify potential solutions for technical implementation of the desired system.
    5. Identified a community-wide strategy to continue dialogue and work towards the desired system.

8:30am Inventory of Data Systems (10min. ea.) - Dimmick/Keating

Session Objective: Each Presenter Will Address:

  1. Summary description of Data System and Usage
    1. Data types and spatial, temporal and compositional attributes
    2. Primary User and/or supplier groups
    3. Connections to other Systems
    4. Primary Storage
  2. Planned enhancements/data system trajectory
  3. Data System Gaps

9:45am Group Discussion and Q & A - All

10:00am Break

10:20am Inventory of Data Processing Centers (10 min. ea) - Lorang

Session Objective: Each Presenter Will Address:

  1. Summary description of Data System and Usage
    1. Data types and spatial, temporal and compositional attributes
    2. Primary User and/or supplier groups
    3. Connections to other Systems
    4. Primary Storage
  2. Planned enhancements/data system trajectory
  3. Data System Gaps

11:50am Group Discussion and Q & A - All

12:00pm Range of Users/Clients & Discussion - Dye

12:15pm Lunch

1:15pm Application Area Breakout Sessions 1: (reconvene before breakouts for insturctions) see Scheffe: Breakout Sessions: Objectives & Questions

  • Group A1 – Public Health - Hassett-Sipple/Pun/Hubble
  • Group B1 – Air Quality Forecasting and Reanalysis for Assessment - Dye/Gilroy
  • Group C1 – Model/Emissions Evaluation - Keating/Fox/Gilliland
  • Group D1 – Air Quality and Deposition Characterization for Trends and Accountability - Poirot/Lear/Frank
  • Session Objective and Output: Each breakout group will work to articulate and document key non-technical challenges and aspirations for each application area. What would an optimistic vision of “success” look like in the mid-term for this business area?
  • Session Input: Generic Data Value Chain Model (Used to frame discussion)
