The purpose of this cluster is to enhance community resilience through culturally meaningful improvements to data accessibility and informatics tools. “Community” is defined as groups of people who are connected through place-based and organizational relationships. “Resilience” is defined as ‘the capability of a community to anticipate risk, limit impact, and bounce forward rapidly through adaptability, evolution, and growth in the face of turbulent change.

Activities

  • Networking with other ESIP Clusters
  • Organize and implement a learning group series to grow members’ knowledge
  • Organize guest presentations from ESIP and beyond to share their work on community resilience and learn about needs related to community engagement
  • Long-term goals
    • Expand and improve the systems that connect data/informatics and community resilience practitioners
    • Define knowledge and conceptual frameworks that help earth scientists better support community resilience goals
    • Contribute to improving how data advances equitable community resilience efforts
