- New member articulates benefits they see to their own organization by joining ESIP
- New member group identifies which collaboration areas they will get involved with
- New member group anticipates attending ESIP meetings or participating actively online
- Application states potential benefits to ESIP from this group joining.
- Clear tie between new member organization and earth science data and informatics community
- Willing to contribute time and resources to the Federation
