Networking Air Quality Observations and Models: From Virtual to Real
The data for air quality Decision Support Systems and Science Teams is typically delivered through dedicated and closed ("stovepipe") data systems or the data are manually dowloaded from Data Portals. In spite of many years of genuine effort by Facilitator Organisations and major advances in web technologies, the seamless flow of data from providers to users is still hampered by many impediments. Recently, a community-driven pilot network was developed to connect several existing AQ data hubs through standards-based, interoperable, loosely coupled web services.
At the workshop, practitioners from Europe and North America will assess the current state of the network; share best practices and develop concrete plans to move(?) the emerging voluntary air quality data sharing network from virtual to real.
