I am a physical scientist in the USGS Science Analytics and Synthesis program. My role as coordinator of the U.S. Geological Survey Community for Data Integration since 2015 has given me experience in working with members from diverse organizations and with different needs. I’ve previously served leadership positions on the Geological Society of America Geoinformatics and Data Science board (Chair in 2018) and the American Geophysical Union Data Management Advisory board (Chair from 2020-2021). I have also been co-chair of the Terrestrial Working Group for CSDMS (Community Surface Dynamics Modeling System) since 2018, serving to facilitate two-way conversation between working group members and the CSDMS integration facility[https://www.usgs.gov/staff-profiles/leslie-hsu USGS Staff Profile]

After one year of serving as ESIP Partnership Chair, I am excited to run again to continue working with the great members of the Partnership Committee. In my first year, the committee was a great team for intaking and reviewing ESIP Partner applications, as well as discussing ways to highlight Partner activities and leverage and share the huge body of knowledge within the Partners.

I bring my perspectives of a former Earth Science researcher in geomorphology, a current data community coordinator of the USGS Community for Data Integration, and a curious data and technology enthusiast. Having a larger role in ESIP has advanced my long-standing interest in making useful connections between different communities, collaboration areas, and organizations.
My past participation in ESIP has focused on July and January Meeting session organization and participation, especially around making connections between collaboration areas and different organizations. Now, I hope to contribute to the ESIP board by bringing the perspective of a former Earth Science researcher (geomorphology!), current data community coordinator (CDI!), and forever data and technology enthusiast. Having a larger role in ESIP will advance my long-standing interest in making useful connections between different communities, collaboration areas, and organizations.

I continue to value ESIP member interactions and knowledge exchange, which inspire me and help me to better perform my own job duties. I want to continue helping a diverse range of new ESIP members also feel that inspiration.
