Director of Informatics Research and Development at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis. Research focuses on advances in information management and computer science that benefit synthesis in the environmental sciences. Major projects have focused on creating globally-scaled data sharing networks (KNB, DataONE), building effective analysis and modeling tools to support reproducible science (Kepler scientific workflow system), and on efficient data integration and discovery through explicitly encoding data semantics (OBOE).
