Biography: Becky Reid discovered ESIP in the summer of 2009 when, as a local science educator, she was invited to attend the Summer meeting in Santa Barbara. She has been volunteering with the ESIP Education Committee in various capacities ever since, serving as the chair in 2013 and 2019. A lifelong educator, Becky holds California teaching credentials in both biology and earth science, along with an M.S. in Education. She has taught science and basic computer coding in the high school classroom and as an informal educator with youth serving organizations including Girls Incorporated and the California School Age Consortium. As a member of the ESIP Education Committee, Becky has been involved in numerous professional development workshops for educators at ESIP summer meetings. She currently teaches at Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Interest Statement: I am interested in running for ESIP Education Committee Chair for a second term in 2020. My interest stems from a desire to continue to serve the organization which has taught me so much about earth and data science, and from the encouragement to run that I have received from members of the committee.
