Open-style meeting planning
The form of the open meeting day has been crafted from a couple of sources for "un-conference" meeting design.
One of these is the "Open Space" concept, which is rather rigorous in its implementation (hyper-structured anarchy??)
The other is from the BarCamp world... much more relaxed (but NOT that "bar".... it is "bar" as in fubar... as in not "fu" as in not FooCamp [an invitation-only technorati event])
These are designed to enable the PEOPLE IN THE ROOM to create the agenda that serves their immediate interests, and maximizes their collective/individual talents and contributions.
An important feature of this type of meeting is the automation of reporting out... so that there is no time spent getting everyone together to report out at the end of the day. This can be done with Drupal forums, or wikis.
