The goal is to develop a capability that is ready for potential roll-out by late October 2007 and possible announcement(s) at the US EPA Office of Environmental Information (OEI) National Symposium in St. Louis in mid-November 2007 and/or the GEO Summit in Cape Town, South Africa in late November 2007.

Target areas include both the public AirNow (airnow.gov) web site and the AirNow-Tech site, which is more of an extranet environment with user ID/password access:

Our scenario revolves around greater exploitation of NO2 information and includes the better and interoperable use of available data and services from in situ sources and remote sensing, modeling, analytical tools, visualization tools, and perhaps more.

I'm summarizing our ideas from Thursday's discussion and making a draft plan. Please give me updates on any discussions you have had with others (either on or off the "assigned" followup discussion list).

While NO2 is ripe for short-term action, we should keep in mind that this can be a step towards greater synthesis of many other types of air quality tools, datasets, and models - in both the short and longer terms.
