Hello,

I'm excited to share the Federation of Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) Student Fellowship. The ESIP Federation is a broad-based community comprising researchers and associated groups that produce, interpret and develop applications for Earth and environmental science data. It now includes more than 125 member organizations, including all NOAA, NASA and USGS Earth observing data centers, government research laboratories, research universities, education resource providers, technology developers, and various nonprofit and commercial enterprises.

Graduate students selected as ESIP Student Fellows will be interested in bridging the gap between informatics, technology and Earth Science and applying research to real-world problems. This fellowship provides students a chance to work closely with professionals in an interdisciplinary, cross-sector group on current Earth Science problems (collaboration areas). The students will become engaged in their respective group as rapporteurs, documenting the work of the group on the monthly telecons and at the semi-annual meetings (Summer/Winter). As the student become more familiar with the group activities he or she may chose to tie in their own research to the group activities. Student Fellows will receive a stipend of $1000 plus travel expenses to the summer and winter ESIP meetings. For full details on the Fellowship see the website: http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/ESIP_Student_Fellows

Please forward this e-mail on to students you know that may be interested. For questions, please e-mail me at erinrobinson@esipfed.org.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Erin
