As a hydro-informatics specialist that focuses on web architectures and technologies for data sharing to serve integrated environmental modeling, I am keenly aware of the need for interoperability in our shared IT systems. My education is in environmental fluid mechanics, hydrology, geography, and civil engineering. For the last 9 years, I've been working to support national-scale integrated hydrologic modeling and related data integration and sharing systems at the U.S Geological Survey. Among other community activities I serve as a co-chair of the OGC/WMO Hydrology Domain Working Group, lead of an OGC standards working group on surface hydrology features, and lead an OGC interoperability experiment focused on using linked data technologies to link feature and observations.
