Vision Statement for Water Cluster

From Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP)

The ESIP Federation Water Cluster is a forum for organizations and individuals involved in the provision of water data and related information. Collectively, we seek to leverage existing projects and resources to collaboratively advance improved access to water data and information. Our goal is to connect existing systems to enable richer product outputs and to identify opportunities to improve access and utility of water data and information.

This goal will be achieved by convening individuals engaged in water environment related research that includes Informatics approaches, identifying best practices and data management techniques that improve interoperability and data access. A series of projects will help demonstrate approaches that provide stable curated terminologies, semantic architecture and integration tools that can respond to rapid evolution in the field. The projects will be developed collaboratively and respond to real world environmental science and policy needs with data integration aimed at problem solving.
