From Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP)

My background is in geology and geophysics, as well as informal science education. I am currently working as a geophysicist at the Geological Survey of Alabama, and am heading our efforts for the National Geothermal Data System through AASG. I am interested in data access and preservation - here at the GSA we have a wealth of information - digital, hardcopy, and physical samples - that is in danger of being lost or rendering useless because people cannot find or access it. The NGDS and other projects have helped us begin the task of preservation and access; however we wish to do this with all of our quality data and we wish to do it using the appropriate standards and protocols.
