The MY NASA DATA Project - making Earth Science data accessible for K-12 education and citizen science

From Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP)

The Mentoring and inquirY using NASA Data on Atmospheric and Earth science for Teachers and Amateurs (MY NASA DATA) project has developed a website that offers authentic and usable Earth science data, and explanatory resources and information, to K-12 teachers as well as citizen scientists. The site uses multiple versions of a Live Access Server to offer about 150 different Earth system science parameters for easy exploration and analysis by this target audience. At the end of the 4th year, the site was consistently reaching 12,000 or more distinct users each month. In addition to the data, a searchable collection of lesson plans, data tools, activities, science project ideas, and an illustrated glossary are available.
